Daytona medical plant cuts 95 jobs, but new owner plans expansion

DAYTONA BEACH – Baxter International is dismissing 95 employees at the factory it uses to make saline solution products before the end of March, as it prepares to hand over the facility to its new owner B. Braun Medical.

The health care products manufacturer made its intentions known in a required disclosure to the state last month. Meanwhile, B. Braun, also a maker of health care products, is preparing to expand and ramp up production at the Mason Avenue site and fulfill a promise to hire some 175 employees and inject more than $100 million into the local economy.
