Developer buys more land near Daytona’s Tanger Outlets

Planned Daytona Beach project to add restaurants, retail stores next to Tanger Outlets

DAYTONA BEACH — A Canadian developer just took another step forward towards carrying out plans to add restaurants, retail stores and possibly hotels next to the new Tanger Outlets mall here.

The developer, North American Development Group, recently closed its $3.5 million purchase of an additional 19.4 acres at Consolidated-Tomoka Land Co.’s 235-acre Tomoka Town Center development area along the east side of Interstate 95, just south of LPGA Boulevard.

The latest land purchase increases the total amount of land that North American now owns at Tomoka Town Center to 61 acres, following its acquisitions of two separate parcels in late 2015 and early 2016.

Tomoka Town Center is already home to the 350,000-square-foot Tanger Outlets mall that North Carolina-based Tanger opened in November and is set to also become home in the future to a Sam’s Club store in the development area’s northwest corner that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. purchased in 2015.

“We are delighted that North American Development Group’s development and leasing plans and approvals have progressed to a point that they have executed on their third land purchase with us,” said Consolidated-Tomoka CEO John Albright. “We expect that they will make an announcement about the development plans and construction start in the next 30 days.”
