Exclusive sneak peek inside Jimmy Buffett’s ‘Margaritaville’

DAYTONA BEACH — After months of anticipation and buildup, those clamoring for Jimmy Buffett’s planned Latitude Margaritaville community will finally get a chance to preview it with their own eyes.

The sales center on LPGA Boulevard, next to the Halifax Humane Society, opens to the public on Monday.

Homes go on sale starting Nov. 13 with the first homes set to be ready for occupancy in ether March or April of next year.

The News-Journal was recently invited for an exclusive sneak peek of the center as well as a tour of the first homes already under construction at the planned 6,900-home Jimmy Buffett-themed 55-and-older community.

Since February, when developer Minto Communities and Buffett’s Margaritaville Holdings company announced plans to create Latitude Margaritaville, the first of several planned in multiple states, more than 100,000 people have signed up to receive email updates on the project.

The development has drawn national attention, including segments on “Good Morning America” and “Live With Kelly and Ryan.” Bloomberg News recently hailed Latitude Margaritaville as “The Future of Retirement,” noting its array of amenities and activities designed to appeal to baby boomers not content to spend their golden years swinging a golf club.

Planned activities at Latitude Margaritaville include everything from guitar lessons and dancing to classes in “Blender Mixology” and “Cooking in Paradise.”
