Minto project along LPGA Boulevard gets underway

DAYTONA BEACH — Construction is finally underway on the long-awaited Minto Communities development that could add up to 6,900 new homes here.

Work began Monday on clearing a roughly two-acre wooded lot off of LPGA Boulevard to make way for a sales center for Minto’s planned Oasis Daytona development, a resort community for adults age 55 and older.  The 7,300-square-foot sales center, which will be next to the Halifax Humane Society, is expected to open by early fall 2017, said William Bullock, a senior vice president for Canada-based Minto. “We’re really excited to get going,” he said, adding that his company had hoped to begin construction of the center a year ago. The delay, he said, had to do with issues with the federal government regarding permitting. “We’re champing at the bit,” he said.
