Property values on the rise in Volusia, Flagler

NEW CONSTRUCTION

Volusia County is expected to see some $508 million in new construction values added to its just value, with Daytona Beach leading the way at $123 million. Some of the new construction values were the $38.6 million for the Tanger Outlet Mall and the $7.4 million for the new Cobb Theatres location at One Daytona, documents show. More growth is on the way in Daytona Beach, including the planned Latitude Margaritaville community on LPGA Boulevard.“While the momentum is positive we have to try and make certain that we take advantage of it as a community,” Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry said.

Aside from growth on Daytona Beach’s west side, the mayor added the city needs to also see positive development in Midtown and the beachside. The just value of new construction in Flagler County wasn’t available, but the taxable value of new construction for Flagler County was $148 million. While Bunnell, the Flagler County seat, saw a 9.6-percent drop in its just value figures, Gardner explained that was due to a change his office made in appraising parts of large, agricultural properties and does not affect those values on the city’s tax rolls.
